Evaluating the Wait Times & More "There Is No Me....

Friday this was posted on the AWAA blog:

Hello Ethiopia Families!
I wanted to give a bit of an update to help families who are tying to speculate when they might be expecting their referrals. (this would be us :)

On April 25th four families received their referrals. From this we can see the current wait times:
Infant Boy: DTE: 10/5/2007 (this would be us as well :)
Infant Girl: DTE: 8/30/2007
Toddler: DTE: 10/15/2007
Waiting Children: DTE: 3/19/2008

Families please use these dates to evaluate how much longer your wait time might be.
Thank you and congratulations again to these families who received referrals!

So, I did a little evaluating: from 10/5/07 to 4/25/07 is about 7 months...6 months and 3 weeks, or something like that. So, the current wait time is closer to 7 months. This is kind of a bummer....well, it is a bummer, because this means that most likely a referral will not come for us until August. Because the courts in Ethiopia are closed from August-October, this means we most likely will not be traveling to get our little guy until November or December. We knew this was a possibility, but we were holding onto that 5 month window, which would have put us at the end of June, first of July. Oh well. God is teaching us much through this wait, and this will only provide the opportunity for more learning. And you never know what God has planned :)

Yes, I do have more to say about the book, There Is No Me Without You. I just can't even believe that this book is real...not the book itself, but what is contained inside. Trust me, I want it to be fiction, but it's not. It is truly unbelievable. I am starting to see that maybe this calling on our lives is even bigger than adoption! What exactly that means, I do not know right now. But I trust that God will continue to speak to us about it. In the mean time, visit this link and click on the slide show in the bottom left corner. http://www.thereisnomewithoutyou.com/

You're right, you never know what God may have planned. Our first referral was the beginning of July (at the same time as the Dudas). AWAA did a great job getting them quickly through the courts to travel in August, so you never know. On the other hand, our second referral was just before the courts reopened and we didn't travel until the end of January. The additional wait was hard, but our daughter was so worth it. I'll be praying for the 5 month mark and that God would pour His peace and patience down on you. I can't wait to see what else God has planned for you. I really liked There is No Me Without You too. It's such an eye opener.

With Love,
Penelope

I hear you on the wait time. We are even "biting our nails", praying for it to be June at the latest (when we were originally holding on to May). But we are too feeling that - it may not happen in time for the court closure. What can you do??? There is a day that none of this waiting will matter any more. May you cling to that truth. (One of the many, right?) There is No Me Without You is certainly an incredible book. I read it shortly after starting our journey. Heartbreaking to say the least. God bless you during your wait.

Hang in there. I know what you're feeling. The DTE 10/5 crew is not done yet. The Moles, Wempes and Redferns are 10/5 too. It is 7 months and 1 day...as of today...and still counting. :) I think there will be more soon and maybe it will speed up again or at least move back closer to the 5-6 month mark.

Thinking of you and hoping for the best.

I pray that things will move quickly for you guys. I don't want to see anyone have to wait for the courts to reopen. Hopefully there will be lots of referrals coming very soon. :)

I'm so sorry that your wait time was longer than you expected. You are right, it's in God's plan ut it can still be disappointing. I understand.
Keep your chin up!

We will be praying that lots of referrals start flooding in and maybe you will be able to travel before the courts close. I watched the video clip on this book, I am going to have to read it.
